COMEDY & BREAST CANCER :D

Hey Guys !

So on 29th October I got to attend one of the best comedy night's I've been to with a brilliant host, headliner and opening acts each adding their own flare to a show that went beyond just providing great entertainment but promoted Breast Cancer Awareness and of course the event was geared to breaking stereotypes and empowering women, yes that's right WOMEN :)  I've probably caught the attention of the guys by now

Event was titled " FUNNY GIRLS GO PINK"

So your probably wondering by now who are the ladies .... * Drum roll please *

1) Simone Heng ( Host for the show) ---> The daytime 10-1 pm weekdays star on Virgin Radio ! In-case you live under a rock Virgin Radio ( 104.4) is probably one of the most popular stations to grace UAE's airwaves. With a mix of  Eurasian Singapore from Mothers side and  Chinese from fathers, this lady's got great style with her jokes and content, I'd love to throw in a few spoilers of what to expect but no one wants Simone's tiger mom set out after them ( haha much love to mama Simone). Plus Simone's also on twitter *social high five* @SimoneHeng - Drop her a follow to stay up-to-date with all the awesome stuff she's involved with !

2) Ellen Gayle Harewood (Opening Act #1) --> Known for her great stage presence, proudly resonating a mix of Jamaican and British upbringing Ellen not only does comedy and Improve with Dubomedy but has starred in a short movie Pandora ( 2010) and works on drama classes & more *social high five* Twitter --> @ChaiButterfly5 !

3) Mai Assaf  (Opening Act #2) -- > Like Hummus, Mai's a mix of Arab cultures but above that she's a proud mother, and a multitasking extraordinaire; partner of a leading spa firm, worked for Dubai Ladies Club as the Marketing Guru and a California (CSU) graduate.

4) Mina Liccione ( Headlining Act)-- > The Queen of Comedy in Middle East ! The significant other to Ali Al Sayed (comedian king). If you've not had the pleasure of meeting this Italian- NewYorker lady in person, you'd be overwhelmed by her smile and positivity. Mina is a Broadway veteran & award winning Comedienne, Arts Educator and Entertainer; Mina with Ali started the comedy movement " DUBOMEDY " in Dubai, a place for not only education about comedy but performing  arts as well, helping create a vibrant comedy and performing arts community. She leads a start up 'Clowns Who Care Project' as well, geared towards putting a smile on those with special needs. Red Rose Event :)

Hey guys !




I got to take part with a brilliant event spreading "Peace" at Marina Walk Dubai yesterday called "  Rose Event Dubai " ... conveniently spelling " RED"

Now that I look back, I wish could have been more involved with the prep-work that went into it ! But in any case, a brief idea about the event, it's centered around promoting peace through sayings and quotes placed on Roses and given out to people of course for free :)

The event was scheduled to run from 7pm to 9pm and me being the genius I considered myself with direction  I ended up on JBR "The Walk" at 7pm where I spent 45 minutes trying to find parking and then walking half the walk to realize that one of the landmarks given out to all the volunteers for gathering " Marriot " hotel was no where to be found. Only after speaking to several people did dawn on me there's actually another " The Walk " but this one's called Marina Walk !

So I spent another hour and reached Marina Walk by 8: 30 and spent another good 20 minutes looking for parking spot, finally meeting with all the volunteers at 9pm.

In any case, I've got amazing friends that still greeted me as if I'd been there from the start * Ahmad, Fahmi, Nabtititttt, Ya'all are awesome *

Was nice to hear feedback from the volunteers and people that had received roses on the experience plus with it being the second day of Eid, it just added more and more to the festive flare

Got to share a good hearty dinner, and I still did my part, had 7 roses they left for me, and I made sure I gave them out towards the end :)

 EID <3 & Brand of the week

I'm going to be starting a new segment if you will, about brands that I thought deserve a mention for whatever reason (usually cause their adding to the awesomeness to the offline/online community) but before I start talking about this weeks brand, got to talk about the topic on most people's minds " EID "

Eid means a number of things, for everyone own points of view. For some it means the time that family gets together and share in festivities  for others it means the benefit of an extended break ( sorry non GCC countries, can't touch this or rather us on the number of holidays we get), and honestly many will tell you and I would agree more with this: it's the sharing of positivity and greetings with everyone you meet, doesn't matter if their Muslim or not, it's sharing a smile, a greeting and maybe even a hug !

Quick things to know about this EID, it's not the one that comes after Ramadan which is referred to as Eid ul Fitr, this one is celebrated after Hajj and is called Eid ul Adha :) *and this Eid deals with a lot more cooking of all things meat ! We're talking  Steaks, Ribs, Stew's, Soups and more*

In any case, just thought I'd throw that out there !

Just so you know, there isn't any hidden agenda, just talking about them cause I feel they've been great on twitter ! MOTIVATIONAL POSTERS !

There are times when you head back home from an exhausting day at University or Work for that matter and  think to your self " I'm upset, I'm depressed", well this has got to change ! I've gotta admit that especially with the frequent midterms that my university loves bestowing upon us, the mind can shift ever so slightly in that direction ! But you wanna know what cheers me up and gets me motivated, on track and focused ? It's Posters ! Yes Motivational, awesome posters !

Recently I got two brilliant posters from Prof Ali from the Business School where I study, and I've put them up in my room and I've gotta admit just by having them up every time I look at them it encourages and gets me out of my funk zone.

So if you can't make your own awesome posters, or have awesome Prof's, head out to your nearest VirginMegaStore or bookstore of some sort, these kind of places, and Virgin especially has got tons of nick nacks to put up around the room to keep you smiling (think the place is called Red-Box).

Psstt todays midterm went alright, got another one on Wednesday ! Can't wait for the week to come to a peaceful end soon :)

With the week in full swing, theirs literally so much to do but most AUS students like myself are tied down with Exams!

Infact good ol Sunday was spent planning and dreading reading the chapters and now in posting a blog at 6am in the morning hoping to finish studying for that 12:30 midterm today ( its on black and while old school accounting, trust me details would bore you ) also a portion of time last night was spent in helping edit footage had taken with a few friends ( working on a secret footage, can't wait to share with everyone when the time is right )

We keep getting bombarded with Emails about EID , specifically by 14 cultural clubs on campus at my uni will be hosting an event for it, thought I'll hit that up but that's on Sunday! That reminds me, last night was also spent keeping uptodate with Whatsonawards and all the winners, WildPeeta, Danny Neville, Huda's Beauty and more!  Congrats to all the winners :-)

Short Weekend Post

Guys Weekend's been all about dinner's and having people over, not overly interesting.. but I'm sure everyone's heard of the new Bond Installment "Sky Fall" with Adele's cover for the movie being released and all.

What really caught my eye was the absolutely brilliant Coca-Cola Ad on Youtube, if you haven't checked it out it's related to the movie SkyFall and that's all I'm going to say !

Also weekend's been a whole lot of studying with two midterms still to go this week ! Gotta keep strong and keep moving forward * so placed an apt pic for it, as todays posting * :)

Le Scholarship & Awesome Exam !

Today was a electric mix of madness ! Took a whole extra wardrobe with me cause I'm not fond of wearing formals and rushed in the morning to hit up my 8am Anthropology calss ! Now usually a subject like anthropology could be well on border line boring, but not with my Prof Dr R, the guy keeps class interesting and engaging and in all honestly does a great job at it too for an 8am Class.

Once class was done had to rush over to finish up paperwork for meeting with the Chancellor. Rushed to get changed and around 11am  ! Was an absolutely brilliant meeting, going to the boardroom, where he presented me with the Student Leadership Scholarship along with several key AUS figure heads :) -  It's not everyday I get to meet the chancellor, last time I meet him thou was when I was hosting the OSA Annual Appreciation Dinner ( hint hint, guess I can blog about that on a another day)

Once that was done, had to rush over to School of Business where meet up with a few friends to go over a few quick notes before the Strategic Management Midterm ! I'm glad to say it went awesome and I finally understood what we were doing in the course ! Prof P is pretty awesome !

Yalla it's the weekend, and I'm going to relax and then back to study mode cause it's two more midterms next week :p

Dubizzle Crazy :P, I'm Honored

Hello Blog heads ! Don't really know If I should call you guys that but yea !

Straight up, something really amused me when I visited Dubizzle.com right on their landing page ( I'll attach a picture, you can figure our for your selves what stands out :P ) Needless to say with all the midterms going on this week I paused for a moment in my head to applaud the internet in being aggressively successful to keep me distracted  ! Needless to say I quickly closed the browser and returned to studying !

I'm a bit excited and nervous because tomorrow got my strategic management midterm and it's not exactly cakewalk, mind is going numb reading about value preposition and industry value chains.... !

On the bright side thou I've been invited to meet chancellor of  AUS Dr Peter Heath ! Hahaha I'm sure your guessing why ! But shhhhhh will let you know tomorrow ! Trust me it's awesome and I'm wicked excited about it ---- Hint : I'm being honored individually,  rather than the mass craziness of students who ruin curves for classes [ only AUS students will get this part ]

OSA Big ANNOUNCEMENT

Today has been thoroughly awesome ! Attended the OSA Forum and got to interact with senior members of the board ! Also two of my midterms got postponed to after the Eid Break !

But back to the forum, anyway they announced something absolutely brilliant ! My heart's been pulsing since then but I can't giveaway any details till Thursday (so stay tuned for Thursdays Blogpost) !

Also I got to sample Omani styled Breakfast at Student Center which was a real treat after having skipped breakfast to make it through the nightmare traffic of Sharjah to get to my 8am class. I've always had a fascination with Oman since I visited the place with Family and friends, was an awesome road trip involving staying in hotels, shopping and eating ! Salalah was my favorite of all the cities we visited :)

Yayy ! My First Post

Wow,
My First post ...
My First Blog ......
So much to say ..........
But as usual with anything that requires writing the great mind of mine hits a roadblock ....

In any case with me there's no telling what I'll talk about Food, Clothes, Education,Culture, Sports, Traveling, I'm pretty much a fun loving guy, don't mind really trying anything awesome ! Oh and I really love U.A.E .. like no cliche, it's truly amazing :)
